Last week, the YouTube Music app received a visual makeover for its media controls. The app is now getting a redesigned playlist UI on Android phones.
The revamped UI first arrived on tablets last month, and 9to5Google reports that it is now coming on Android smartphones. In portrait mode, the UI displays a more prominent cover image with the album art getting blurred in the background of the app. The art is followed by the song title, and below it are options for shuffle or play, sharing, downloading, editing. It is accompanied by an overflow menu which includes delete, play next, and more functions.

Below the list of tracks, you will be able to view the song count as well as the duration. According to the report, the redesign comes as a server-side rollout. However, the update hasn’t been released for all users yet. Do note that the new feature applies to playlists only, while albums retain the original design.

A week back, YouTube Music got revamped media controls to keep up with the Android 13 UI. Version 5.16 of the app received redesigned controls, with a play action button inside a circle and a rounded square pause button at the right-hand side. Furthermore, the progress bar received a wavy design. Before the update, these controls were packed at the bottom of the player, making it difficult to access them.
