Acer Announces New Chromebook Spin 514 With AMD Ryzen 5 C-Series Chip

Acer has announced the Chromebook Spin 514 (2022) with AMD’s Ryzen 5 C-series chip. With this new processor, the Chromebook Spin 514 offers an upgrade in terms of battery efficiency and overall performance. The 2022 line-up of the Spin 514 series Chromebooks ship with a Ryzen 3 5125C CPU at the low end, whereas the top-end variant features the Ryzen 7 5825C processor. To put this into perspective, the previous generation Chromebook Spin 514 was powered by the relatively modest Ryzen 3 3250C chip. Here’s what else you can expect in the new Acer Chromebook series.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 514 features a 14-inch IPS LCD touchscreen sporting a native resolution of 1080p. The screen delivers 100% coverage of the sRGB colourspace across the standard 16:9 aspect ratio screen. The base model ships with the AMD Ryzen 3 5125C CPU, which is coupled with 8GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of NVMe SSD storage. The Spin 514 is also available in the AMD Ryzen 7 5825C CPU configuration. This particular variant includes up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB storage at the upper end.

The new Chromebook also has a Full HD webcam, which is touted to improve your telecommuting experience. It also features a webcam shutter for foolproof privacy. The laptop weighs around 1.5kg and is 17.35mm thick. The Chromebook complies with the MIL-STD-810H durability standards thanks to its aluminum construction. It also has a Gorilla Glass-covered trackpad and a backlit keyboard. As for connectivity, the Chromebook Spin 514 features two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, an HDMI port, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.2 support, and a headphone jack.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 514 ships in two variants—the standard and the Chromebook Enterprise models. The standard model is priced at $579.99 (roughly ₹44,383) in North America, whereas the Chromebook Enterprise variant will retail for $899.99 (roughly ₹68,870). The new Chromebook will debut in Q3 2022.
