While the iPhone 13 came with incremental changes over its predecessor, Gurman believed that the iPhone 14 might pack significant upgrades. He reports that the big changes could be reserved for the Pro models instead.
As for the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup, it will comprise a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Cupertino-based tech giant will give the iPhone 14 mini a miss.
Although the standard iPhone 14 models will not get major upgrades, they are expected to receive slight improvements when it comes to the camera hardware. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to be the star of Apple’s Far out event, with a speedy A16 processor, Always-on Display, and a 48MP wide-angle camera at the rear. The vanilla iPhone 14 pales in comparison, as it is rumoured to sport an A15 chipset and a standard display.
When it comes to the design, the iPhone 14 Pro will get a significant makeover, with a smaller notch on the top which will house the camera and Face ID sensors. The front camera is reported to feature autofocus and enhanced facial-recognition sensors.
Furthermore, Gurman believes the iPhone 14 Pro units will sport slimmer bezels, thus giving the appearance of a slightly larger display. They are also reported to get bigger batteries.
Apple To Focus More on eSIM
The report notes that Apple will be focusing more on eSIM, and carriers have already been preparing to go the digital route. That’s not all, some speculate that the iPhone maker might eliminate the physical SIM card slot for some models in the coming years.
