Apple One Subscription Bundle, Apple Fitness+, and Family Setup Unveiled

Apple unveiled two new smartphones—Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE—and two new tablets—Apple iPad Air 2020 and Apple iPad 8th Gen.—during its ‘Time Flies’ event earlier today. Apart from all the hardware announcements, the company made some announcements regarding its software and services. It unveiled Apple One, its all-in-one mega services bundle, and Apple Fitness+, a virtual workout program. It also unveiled Family Setup, a feature that allows people to set up Apple Watch for their kids and elderly.

Apple One Subscription Bundle: Apple Music + Apple iCloud + Apple Arcade + Apple TV+

Apple One is the company’s long-rumoured all-in-one services subscription bundle. It consists of Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and iCloud in a single package that you can pay for on a monthly or yearly basis. It is available in three tiers: Individual, Family, and Premier. This new subscription bundle will be available in 100 countries worldwide later this year.

The Individual tier of Apple One consists of Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and 50GB of iCloud storage, and costs ₹195 per month in India. The Family Apple One tier, which costs ₹365 per month in India and comes with 200GB of iCloud storage space, can be used by up to six family members. The Premier tier of Apple One subscription, which costs $29.95 per month in the US, features Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, Apple News+, Apple TV+, and 2TB of iCloud storage. It can be used by up to six family members.

Apple Fitness+: Virtual Workouts for Apple Users, Perfect for Post-COVID-19 World

Perfect for the current testing times where social distancing is necessary and most gyms are closed, Apple is launching its virtual fitness program called Apple Fitness+. It is built for the Apple Watch, and integrates with iPhones, iPads, and the Apple TV so that you can view workouts videos on those screens along with your progress. You can either get access to it via a $9.99 per month plan (or a $79.99 per year plan) or get it as a part of the Apple One subscription plan. Apple will also bundle a three-month Fitness+ plan if you buy an Apple Watch.

Many of the workout plans don’t require any equipment, while some of them only need dumbbells. There are ten different workout types, including core, cycling, HIIT routines, treadmill (jogging and running), rowing, strength, and yoga. There are workout routines for absolute beginners as well. You can select workout plans based on the amount of time you want to spend and can choose different workouts every week and switch to new trainers.

While you’re working out, your vitals and stats are captured using the Apple Watch, and you can see them on the screen on which you’re watching workout training videos. Apple keeps an eye on your performance and encourages you to complete the session and close activity rings using reverse counting. Apple said that Fitness+ will launch only in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US for now.

What is Apple Family Setup for Apple Watches?

The Family Setup feature will debut with iOS 14 and watchOS 7. It allows one iPhone to set up multiple Apple Watches for different people. It will be particularly helpful in setting up Apple Watches for kids and elderly parents who might not have an iPhone of their own. If you’re a parent or a guardian, you can set up the contacts whom your kids can call or send messages to.

You can also set up location alerts so that you get instant alerts when your kids reach their school, dance lessons, or sports practice sessions. There is also a School Time feature for Apple Watches that is similar to the Do Not Disturb mode, which keeps your kids away from distractions when they’re in school or doing their homework. However, the Family Setup feature only works on LTE variants of Apple Watches. It is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and upwards (including the Apple Watch SE).
