Fitbit launched its Charge 5 fitness band globally back in 2021. The brand is now seeding an update to its Charge 5, which adds the “Find Phone” capability. This feature was previously exclusive to the smartwatches in its portfolio and is now trickling down to fitness trackers.
Users can update their Charge 5 fitness bands to the latest firmware version 1.171.50. It is advisable to be on the firmware version 1.149.11 before attempting the latest software upgrade. The new version adds the “Find Phone” feature, which is positioned between the Screen Wake and Water Lock options. It can be accessed by swiping down from the watch face, just like you do for other functions.

When you need to locate your paired device, simply tap on the “Find Phone” option to trigger a loud sound on your device. It will emit the sound continuously and can be stopped by simply pressing the “Cancel” option on the Fitbit Charge 5.
How To Use The “Find Phone” Feature
- The Charge 5 must be paired to the phone you want to locate.
- Your smartphone’s Bluetooth must be turned on and should be within the 30 feet (10m) range of the Charge 5 band.
- Ensure the Fitbit app is running in the background on your phone.
- The device to be located must be turned on.
The “Find Phone” feature was previously available only on the Sense, Versa 3, and other Fitbit smartwatches. Back in November 2021, the company unlocked the ECG feature on the Fitbit Charge 5 via a software update. It also added the “Daily Readiness Score” feature that monitors your activities, heart rate variabilities, and sleep patterns to analyse your overall health. Fitbit keeps adding such nifty features to keep users excited and this is one of the reasons why the brand is popular among fitness enthusiasts.
