As promised, Google has finally started rolling out the long awaited Wear OS 3 update to Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches. The latest Wear OS update brings along a brand-new interface for the Fossil wearables. However, it is reported that it lacks support for the Google Fit health tracking app. While the app can still be installed on Wear OS 3, it doesn’t support the latest “Wear Health Services”, which is a core part of the revamped interface. Let us check out the details of the latest Wear OS update for Fossil smartwatches.
Wear OS 3.0 For Fossil Smartwatches Lacks Google Fit App
Fossil has confirmed via an official post that the latest Wear OS 3.0 update on its smartwatches won’t support the Google Fit app. According to the brand, “Google Fit is actually available as an app, but it hasn’t been updated to support the latest Wear Health Services, so Fossil is not preloading that one for now. We are continuing to support Google Fit data syncing via our phone app at least for the time being until people stop using that”.

Similarly, users trying to use the Google Fit app on their Pixel Watches can see a message that states the app is not supported on the wearable. As explained by Google, Health Services on Wear OS 3 acts as an intermediary for the various health sensors on your smartwatch. This allows health apps to access data including activity, exercise, and general health.
The report further suggests that Google Fit just needs an update to support Health Services on Wear OS 3 devices that are closer to “stock.” Besides, the latest Wear OS 3 update for Fossil smartwatches also lacks support for Google Assistant. However, the Fossil wearable still continues to support Alexa.
