The update bumps the Chromecast device from Android TV OS 10 to 12. Also, the security patch level is updated, as it the Chromecast with Google TV 4K now runs on the July 2022 security patch level compared to the earlier May 2022 security patch.

The update also comes with a noteworthy privacy upgrade, as it now lets you disable or enable camera/mic access for all apps. Plus, users will not be able to control the HDR format and surround sound. Additionally, Google highlights the ability to “match content frame rate” with the new update.
