Instagram creators can sign up to the subscribers program where they can charge their followers a monthly fee to access exclusive content through the app. The latest update includes:
- Subscriber Chats
- Subscriber Reels
- Subscriber Posts
- Subscriber Home
Mosseri further states that creators will be able to host exclusive chats to interact with their fans. Up to 30 subscribers will be able to participate in a subscriber chat. Furthermore, creators will now be able to post Reels and posts directly to their paid subscribers. These posts will also carry the Subscriber badge. Additionally, creators with Subscriber content will get a new “Subscriber home” tab on their profiles. The new tab will help users watch the exclusive content or sign up to be a subscriber.
As noted by Mosseri, subscriptions are a great way for creators to have a predictable income and for fans to get exclusive content from creators that they love. Hence, we should expect the new Instagram features to work in favour of both creators and followers.
