At WWDC 2022, Apple showcased how you can customise your lock screen with iOS 16. This new feature will allow you to add filters, widgets, change the text colour, font type, and more. While iPadOS usually gets similar features, these lock screen customisations will not be available for iPadOS 16.

Instead, Apple included a feature nobody asked for, a new default font for the iPadOS 16 clock.

With iOS 16, the lock screen will get widgets that will let you check out the weather, alarms, battery levels, sports scores, and more, without having to unlock your iPhone. The background photo also gets cool customisation features. For instance, you will be able to choose the foreground object and add effects to the background like you would for Portrait mode pictures. Moreover, you can add different fonts and colours to your image.
Here’s What iPadOS 16 Does Get
Although iPadOS 16 misses out on lock screen customisation, the next-gen iPadOS gets some major improvements over its predecessor. It offers an improved multitasking experience with Stage Manager. Additionally, iPadOS 16 introduces significant upgrades for the Messages app, Safari, Mail, and iCloud Shared Photo Library.
iPadOS 16 Release Timeline
iPadOS 16 is currently available to developers for beta testing. The public betas will roll out in July, which will be followed by the full release in fall.
