EA has a new PC app, designed to replace its old Origin app. The new EA app is now available for download, the company announced last week on October 6. The company said the new app is developed to offer “faster, more reliable and a more streamlined gaming experience” in a blog post. This includes new features like automatic game downloads and updates in the background.
Users on the Origin platform will soon receive an invite to switch to the new EA app. “By the time you receive your invite, all your games and content, including games previously installed, will be ready and waiting for you on the EA app,” the company said in a blog post.

EA has been testing the app on beta for quite some time now, tying it with the Xbox Game Pass subscription to offer a host of EA titles including FIFA, Need For Speed, Crysis, and more.
The company had first announced it would be replacing the Origin app quite some time back, two years ago to be precise. The company has been moving away from the Origin branding like replacing Origin Access to EA Access under the EA Play banner.
Having said that, Origin is not dead yet. macOS users will still have to use the Origin app to play games developed by EA. The company has not revealed a timeline for the update for Mac users. It stated that “as things evolve, we will have more information to share in the coming months,” in a separate blog post.
