Sony has launched a new pair of flagship wireless headphones, dubbed the Sony WH-1000XM5, in India today. The headphones come as a successor to the Sony WH-1000XM4, which were launched back in 2020. The new wireless headphones from Sony feature a new Integrated Processor V1, which is accompanied by a noise cancelling processor QN1 for an improved sound quality. However, the headphones are available at an introductory price of ₹26,990 if you pre-order before October 7, 2022. The Sony WH-1000XM5 will go on sale starting from October 8, 2022 via Sony Center stores, major electronic stores, and various e-commerce platforms in the country. The headphones will be available in two colour options: black and silver.

The newly launched Sony WH-1000XM5 sports a refreshed over-ear design that is said to be lighter and more comfortable when compared to its successor. The headphones come equipped with 30mm dynamic drivers for an improved bass. As mentioned earlier, the audio device is powered by the Integrated Processor V1, along with the QN1 noise cancelling processor. The brand claims that the combination will deliver improved sound quality and overall performance.

In terms of connectivity, the Sony WH-1000XM5 offers Bluetooth 5.2, and comes with support for SBC, AAC, and LDAC Bluetooth codecs. Additionally, it supports multi-point connectivity that allows you to connect the headphones to two devices simultaneously. Furthermore, the device features a combination of button and touch controls. Playback and volume can be controlled by gestures on the touch-sensitive area found in the right ear cup. Plus, the headset gets eight microphones for ANC and voice.
The new Sony wireless headphones work with the Sony Headphones Connect app. They also support Google Fast Pair and Swift Pair for Windows devices. When it comes to the battery, the company claims that the Sony WH-1000XM5 can offer up to 30 hours of playtime on a single charge. The headphones also come with fast charging support. Other primary features on the device include hear-through mode, Speak To Chat, 360 Reality Audio, and native hands-free support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants.
