On occasion, Google is know to sneak details about upcoming features into the app code of some of its products. For developers and apk deep divers, this serves as a gold mine for learning about future features. One such apk investigation revealed information about the wallet and backups for Wear OS.
For the past several months, we have seen Google working on backups for Wear OS, but version 22.42.12 of Play services gives a better idea of what it will include. An apk deep dive revealed that the next updates will give the ability to backup “App data,” “Device settings,” and “Watch faces and tiles.” The customization of a phone’s homescreen is comparable to that of the Watch faces and tiles, and keeping a backup of the app data will aid in logins and other activities.
