WhatsApp appears to be rolling out a cashback feature to those who often use UPI Payments transfers via WhatsApp. As the name suggests, with the cashback feature you get some cashback amount when you perform the UPI transactions via WhatsApp Payments. This new feature is rolling out to the beta version of WhatsApp on Android and iOS. WABetaInfo reports that the new cashback feature is available to specific beta testers only, and it might roll out to more users as a part of promotions. As of now, there are no details available and we don’t know when this new feature will roll out to more WhatsApp users.

The cashback feature was shared by Indian user Vipin. The user received a certain amount of cashback, after spending payments to the five contacts. Facebook (Meta)-owned WhatsApp appears to be offering up to ₹51 for each transaction, considering that the user has received a total of ₹255 after five payment transactions. WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp might be convincing people to try out the WhatsApp UPI Payments by offering cashback to certain users.

As mentioned earlier, this feature might be only available to beta testers. As of now, we are not sure if the cashback feature is available to all the users broadly. WABetaInfo claims that there are high chances to get this new feature if you are using the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android on the Play Store and WhatsApp beta for iOS on TestFlight. As far as the other details of this new feature go, it is said that the cashback amount of ₹51 remains the same, even if you send someone ₹1 or above. WhatsApp as of now hasn’t explicitly shared any details about this new feature.

Considering that most Indian users use PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm to make UPI payments, it is possible that WhatsApp is tempting users to use the UPI Payments feature on its platform by offering ₹51 cashback as part of a promotion.
