Xiaomi 12 Ultra Confirmed To Feature Sony IMX989 Sensor

Xiaomi is reportedly working towards the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Since the last few weeks, we have been learning new details about this upcoming flagship smartphone. The launch date and specifications of the device were leaked recently. As per the past leak, the handset is set to arrive on July 5, 2022. Now, ahead of the launch, we have some more details of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra coming in courtesy of Xiaomi itself. According to the teaser shared by the brand on its Weibo handle, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature a Sony IMX989 sensor.

Xiaomi Confirms Sony IMX989 Sensor For Xiaomi 12 Ultra

As of now, Sony is yet to release details regarding the Sony IMX989 sensor, and the exact launch date isn’t available at the moment either. The past leak had revealed that Sony’s 50MP camera will come with the IMX989 sensor. As per Xiaomi’s teaser, the upcoming sensor could be 1-inch in size. Moving onto the Xiaomi 12 Ultra details once again, the 50MP Sony IMX989 RGBW sensor could be accompanied by a 48MP ultra-wide lens and a 48MP telephoto lens, which could offer 120X Zoom. The front of the handset might include a 32MP selfie camera.

As far as the rest of the features of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra are concerned, it might boast of a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a 3200 x 1440 pixels resolution. The device might have an adjustable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the smartphone will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC. We can expect the handset to ship with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. As for the software, this upcoming flagship device might run Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 skin on top.

Xiaomi has not revealed the Xiaomi 12 Ultra launch date as of now. However, as mentioned above, a past leak indicates that the device will be announced on July 5, 2022 in China.
