Last month, Google released the stable Android 12 update for the Pixel series smartphones. Soon after that, many Android smartphone OEMs, including ASUS, Realme, and Vivo, released details regarding Android 12 updates for their existing smartphones. Before releasing the stable version of Android 12 for its smartphones, Xiaomi had announced the Android 12 beta-testing program for Mi 11 series smartphones, including the Mi 11, Mi 11i (Mi 11X Pro in India), and the Mi 11 Ultra. Now, it appears that Xiaomi has started testing the Android 12 update internally for a range of smartphones such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro, Mi 11 Lite 4G/5G, Xiaomi Civi, POCO X3 Pro, and the POCO M3 Pro 5G.

The company has also started testing the new operating system version on the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE, Xiaomi 11T, Redmi Note 10S, Redmi Note 10 JE, and Xiaomi Civi.
The tweet also shows the tentative list of the devices which will be getting the Android 12 update. POCO smartphones such as the POCO X3 Pro, POCO M3 Pro 5G, POCO X2, POCO X3, POCO X3 NFC, POCO M2 Pro, POCO M3 should get the Android 12 update as well. It is said that Xiaomi has temporarily suspended the MIUI China Beta updates for some handsets due to the upcoming Android OS upgrade. This hints that Xiaomi might soon release the Android 12 update, at least in China.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun mentioned that MIUI 13 will be launched by the end of 2021. MIUI 13 is based on Android 12 and it’s supposed to bring a host of new features such as Memory Expansion, Floating Gaming Window, revamped UI design, new animations, new icons, updated Control Centre design, and new live wallpapers. The company might showcase all the new features later this month or early next month. Needless to say, the MIUI 13 update release will happen first in China, followed by the global launch sometime in 2022.
Xiaomi 12 Specifications (Leaked)
Alongside the MIUI 13, Xiaomi is also rumoured to launch its first Snapdragon 898-powered smartphone—Xiaomi 12—in December 2021. Leaked specifications suggest that the Xiaomi 12 will feature a 50MP primary camera. The device might sport a 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display and a 5,000mAh battery. It is rumoured to support 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.
