Instagram has released a new searchable map feature, which allows users to easily discover the most-tagged places around them. The new feature will also help users to filter location results by specific categories, including restaurants, cafes, and beauty salons. Besides, you will also be able to find relevant locations on the map when searching for certain hashtags.

Get the latest technology news, reviews, and opinions on tech products right into your inboxIn order to explore the map and conduct hashtag searches, you can simply tap on places where you have been tagged in the feed or stories. You can also simply type a business, city, or neighbourhood name into the Explore page to view results on the map. Besides, you will be able to share locations with other Instagram users and keep their searches saved in a collection.
If you have a public Instagram profile, all the location stickers you use in your posts and stories will be included in the search queries on the new map. Users can simply press the Instagram icons showing on the map to view stories or access the online profiles of firms or places they find interesting, as the map will visually show the destinations on Instagram. A similar feature is notably available for Snapchat users.
Furthermore, the new searchable map feature on Instagram will let you find popular locations around you and filter them by categories and see the map by:
- tapping location tags in Feed or Stories
- searching a city or hashtags in Explore
Meanwhile, Instagram has launched another interesting feature, which allows users to make purchases right via DMs (Direct Messages) in the app. Seemingly, the newly released Instagram features are aimed at making the app more than just a photo and video sharing platform.
