OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new startup, Nothing, is gearing up to launch its first-ever smartphone on July 12, 2022. According to a report, the brand is planning to partner with Reliance Digital for the offline sale of its Nothing Phone (1) in India.
The brand had earlier made a similar tie-up with Flipkart, wherein the online sales of the Nothing Phone (1) will be handled exclusively by Flipkart. The pre-order pass details are live on its portal. Pei has introduced the “Invite” system similar to the strategy adopted by OnePlus in its initial days.

Then, you will receive an invite code via mail. You will then be prompted to pay a refundable deposit of ₹2,000 to complete the pre-booking. On the launch day, July 12, 9 PM onwards, you will have to log in to Flipkart to pay the remaining amount in order to confirm the order.
Nothing Phone (1): Highlights
The Nothing Phone (1) comes with a white paint job and a unique transparent back panel. The brand has packed in bright white LED strips around the camera module, wireless charging mechanism, and other areas. It doesn’t stop here—powered by the GLYPH interface, the LED lights glow when you get a call, message, notification, or while charging. Alternatively, there’s a single red LED which glows up while video recording.

The Nothing Phone (1) gets a left-aligned punch-hole camera cutout on the display. It will sport an OLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and is expected to be 6.5-inches in size. The smartphone was spotted powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset on benchmarking website Geekbench.
In terms of camera, it reportedly gets a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor and a 16MP ultrawide shooter. For selfies, there’s a 16MP camera at the front. The device will come with a 4500mAh battery coupled with a 45W fast charging tech. It will run on Nothing OS based on Android 12.
