Poco M5 4G With Helio G99 Tipped To Launch Next Month: Specifications

Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Poco, is gearing up to add a new mid-range smartphone to its lineup in India. The Poco M5 device was spotted on several certification websites before appearing on the Indian BIS database. The smartphone with model number 22071219CI was spotted on the BIS certification website last month and industry pundits believed that it could launch by August 2022 in India. However, we are nearing the fag end of August and there’s no word about the Poco M5 from the brand.

A recent report by 91mobiles, citing industry sources, reveals that the new Poco M5 will launch in September 2022 in India. As per rumours, the Poco M5 will be a 4G smartphone and might come as a successor to the Poco M4 Pro. The report states that the Poco M5 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which is set to debut with the Infinix Note 12 Pro in India.  

Poco M5 4G: Features (Rumoured)

The Poco M5 4G could sport a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display. It is expected to be an LCD panel, which would be a bummer since the Poco M4 Pro comes with an AMOLED display. The device will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 processor, which is built on an efficient 6nm fabrication process compared to the 12nm process of the Helio G96.  

The device is expected to carry a signature Poco design with vibrant colour options. It will be equipped with at least 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device could offer a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth v5.0, among other features. It will likely be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. 

The prices of the Poco M5 4G smartphone are expected to start from under ₹15,000 in India. The brand will also launch its new Poco M5s alongside the vanilla Poco M5.
