Shortly after the announcement of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset in May 2022, folks over at Xiaomiui spotted a device with model number “2201212UG” codenamed “Diting”. It was speculated to be the upcoming Xiaomi 12T Pro powered by the new Snapdragon chipset. However, the details couldn’t be confirmed as the listing did not reveal its model name.
Xiaomiui has once again tracked down the same device on the IMEI database. This time, it reveals its moniker as the Xiaomi 12T Pro. Xiaomi is expected to use this naming for the global markets, while it may debut as the Redmi K50S Pro in China. The Redmi K50S Pro was also doing the rounds on CMIIT and China’s 3C certification websites, suggesting that the launch is near. Industry pundits believe the Redmi K50S Pro, a.k.a. the Xiaomi 12T Pro, could go on sale in August 2022. Let’s see what the Xiaomi 12T Pro would bring to the table.
Xiaomi 12T Pro: Expectations
Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, recently confirmed the Redmi K50S Pro to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset via a post on Weibo. This means the Xiaomi 12T Pro sold elsewhere will also carry the same processor. It is the most powerful mobile chipset produced by the Qualcomm and promises 10 percent improvement in performance and about 30 percent improved power efficiency compared to its predecessor.
It will be a flagship smartphone, so expect it to flaunt an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of imaging, it is rumoured to sport a 200MP camera sensor, which is set to debut with the Moto X30 Pro/Moto Edge 30 Ultra. Reportedly, it will be equipped with a 5,000mAh under its hood coupled with 120W fast charging support. However, there are chances that the 120W fast charging might be exclusive to the Xiaomi 12T Pro HyperCharge variant.
