Alongside the Mi MIX 4 smartphone, Xiaomi also introduced its much-awaited high-end tablets: Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro. They will compete with Apple’s iPad Air and iPad Pro. In the Android space, the Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad Pro will take on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7 series. Both the new tablets feature an 11-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Atmos speakers. The Mi Pad 5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 860 processor, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro uses the Snapdragon 870 processor. These tablets have up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Both devices run Android 11 out of the box with MIUI 12.5 user interface.

The variant with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage costs CNY 2,299 (around ₹26,405). It comes in three colours: Black, Green, and White.
The Wi-Fi variant of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 2,499 (around ₹28,700), while the variant with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage costs CNY 2,799 (around ₹32,145). There’s also a higher-end Mi Pad 5 Pro model which has 8GB of RAM, 256GB storage, and 5G connectivity. It costs CNY 3,499 (around ₹40,185 ).
Both these tablets will be available for purchase in China starting on August 16, 2021.
Alongside the new high-end tablets, Xiaomi also introduced a new Keyboard Case and a Stylus. The cost of the Keyboard Case for the Mi Pad series is CNY 399 (around ₹4,585), while the Stylus pen costs CNY 349 (₹4,000), respectively.

The Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad 5 Pro feature the same 11-inch IPS LCD display with WQXGA resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels), a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10. The display is certified by TUV Rheinland for eye comfort. The Mi Pad 5 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 860 processor, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. Both these tablets pack up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G has 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
The Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad 5 Pro feature a dual-camera setup that consists of a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor. The 13MP main camera can record 4K videos. For selfies and video-calling, users can use the tablets’ 8MP front-facing camera.
Connectivity features of the Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Par 5 Pro include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0/5.2 (Pro Model), GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The Mi Pad Pro 5G has 5G (SA/NSA) connectivity. On the software side of things, these tablets run Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out of the box. The vanilla Mi Pad 5 is powered by an 8,720mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The Mi Pad 5 Pro comes equipped with an 8,600mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
