Google TV will soon roll out a fresh update to introduce a host of new features for Kids Profiles on the platform. The upgrade will allow parents more control over what their kids watch on Google’s streaming platform. The update will be released over the next few weeks. Notably, Kids Profiles feature was introduced to Google TV back in 2021. The feature allows parents to choose which apps their kids can use, and to set up bedtime reminders as well as screen time limits.
Google TV Kids Profiles Get New Features
The latest Google TV update is reported to bring along the following new features for Kids Profiles:
- Google TV Parent Watchlist: Google TV will soon support parent-managed watchlists where parents can add a movie or TV show to their child’s watchlist from the parent’s account. That content then appears on the kid’s profile. Currently, Kids Profiles on Google TV only show specific apps.
- Google TV Kids Recommendations: Furthermore, Google TV Kids Profiles are also adding a recommended content feature. Popular TV shows and movies will appear based on the ratings that parents have already set up, and there’s also a “hide” option if either you or your child don’t want to see a specific recommendation.
- Supervised Experience: Lastly, the streaming platform now also supports a “supervised” experience on YouTube, which allows the full YouTube app but with content settings, including the ability to block specific channels, which a parent can manage for pre-teens and older children.
