The month of August 2021 is about to end, and a lot of smartphones have been launched this month. Until now, we have witnessed more than 15 smartphone launches in India. In this post, we have created the list of smartphones launched in August 2021. We often see companies like Xiaomi, Realme, Infinix, and Tecno launching multiple smartphones in the country every month. However, this month was special considering that we witnessed the launch of third-generation foldable devices from Samsung in the form of the Galaxy Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. We also saw Motorola unveiling two devices—Motorola Edge 20 and Motorola Edge 20 Fusion—in India. Similarly, Realme introduced its Realme GT series in India.

Of all the smartphones, the Motorola Edge 20, Realme GT 5G, Realme GT Master Edition, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 were the best smartphones.

1. Infinix Smart 5A – ₹6,499
The Infinix Smart 5A was the first smartphone to be launched in India in August. It features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display, the MediaTek Helio A20 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP dual-camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Infinix 5A is priced at ₹6,499 in India and it comes in Midnight Black, Ocean Wave, and Quetzal Cyan colour variants.
2. Tecno Pova 2 – ₹10,999
The next smartphone launch we witnessed was by Tecno. The company launched the Tecno Pova 2 smartphone in India for a price of ₹10,999. The device comes with a taller 6.9-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution. The smartphone is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G85 processor. Other features of the Tecno Pova 2 include a 48MP quad-camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a massive, 7,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. This is among the few smartphones in India that offer a 7,000mAh battery. It can easily last two days of medium usage.
3. Nokia C20 Plus – ₹8,999
On August 10, Nokia Mobile launched the Nokia C20 Plus in India with a starting price of ₹8,999. The Nokia C20 Plus is an entry-level smartphone that features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD HD+ display. The device is powered by a 1.6GHz Unisoc SC9863A processor, 2GB/3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. The phone features an 8MP dual-camera setup, a 5MP selfie camera, and packs a 4,950mAh battery. The device runs Android 11 (Go Edition) out of the box.
4. Vivo Y53s – ₹19,490
The Vivo Y53s was launched in India on August 9. The device was introduced in the country with a price tag of ₹19,490. The Vivo Y53s comes with a 6.58-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display, the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, a 64MP triple-camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh capacity. The device offers 33W fast charging support.
5. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 – ₹1,49,999
Samsung launched its new foldable smartphones—Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3—on August 11. These devices succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, respectively. They feature improved specifications, stronger designs, an IPX8 rating for water resistance, and better screens.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O cover display with HD+ resolution (2,268 x 832 pixels) and a 7.6-inch Super AMOLED foldable display with QHD+ resolution on the inside. Its internal screen has a 4MP under-display camera, which isn’t visible when using the phone. The phone has a 10MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 12MP triple-camera setup at the rear. The rear-facing camera has 12MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The phone can record up to 4K 60fps videos using its cover display selfie camera and all rear-facing cameras.
The other specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 include a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage, stereo speakers, Samsung Pay, 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, UWB (Ultra Wideband), and a 4,400mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. It also supports Qi wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
6. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 – ₹84,999
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O foldable display. On the outside, the phone features a 1.93-inch Super AMOLED cover display that shows notifications, time, widgets, and more. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB internal storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. It has a stronger body, an IPX8 rating for water resistance, stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. 7. Samsung Galaxy A12 – ₹13,999
The affordable Samsung Galaxy A12 was launched in India on August 12. The device features a 6.5-inch PLS IPS LCD display and packs up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The smartphone is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 850 processor. It features a 48MP quad-camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. 8. Motorola Edge 20 – ₹29,990
The Motorola Edge 20 and the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion smartphones were launched in India on August 17. These devices were initially introduced first in the European market prior to their debut in India. The Motorola Edge 20 is priced at ₹29,990

9. Motorola Edge 20 Fusion – ₹21,499
The Motorola Edge 20 Fusion is a mid-range smartphone that has some specifications of the Motorola Edge 20. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. It has a 108MP triple-camera setup at the rear with a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 30W TurboCharge fast charging. It has 5G (SA/NSA), dual-4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. 10. Realme GT 5G – ₹37,999
Realme introduced the Realme GT 5G and the Realme GT Master Edition smartphones in India on August 18. The Realme GT 5G sports a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and Gorilla Glass protection. The Realme GT 5G is equipped with Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB/12GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB internal storage.
It has a triple-camera setup that includes a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. It can record 4K 60fps videos using the primary camera. At the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera. Other features include stereo speakers, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 11. Realme GT Master Edition – ₹25,999
The Realme GT Master Edition sports a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and Gorilla Glass protection. It comes equipped with a Snapdragon 778G chipset, 8GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB internal storage. It has a triple-camera setup at the rear that includes a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. The 64MP camera is capable of recording 4K 60fps videos. At the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera. 12. Samsung Galaxy A03s – ₹11,499
The Samsung Galaxy A03s features a 6.5-inch TFT LCD Infinity-V display with HD+ resolution (1,600 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor. The phone packs up to 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and it runs Android 11-based One UI 3.1 Core out of the box. Vivo launched its entry-level smartphone, the Vivo Y21, in India on August 20, 2021. The Vivo Y21 comes with a 6.51-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (1,600 x 720 pixels) and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The smartphone features a 13MP dual-camera setup at the rear, an 8MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and a USB Type-C port. The device is equipped with the octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. Speaking about the Vivo Y33s, it features a 6.58-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display. The smartphone comes powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The Vivo Y33s flaunts a 50MP triple-camera setup at the rear and has a 16MP selfie camera. The USP of the phone is that it has 4GB of Virtual RAM. Realme unveiled the Realme C21Y smartphone in India on August 23, 2021. The Realme C21Y price in India starts at ₹8,999. The device features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (1,600 x 720 pixels). Realme has incorporated a 12nm Unisoc T610 processor. The smartphone runs Android 11 out of the box and features a 13MP triple-camera setup at the rear and a 5MP selfie at the front. The other key specifications the device offer include dual-4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microUSB port. 16. Samsung Galaxy M32 5G – ₹20,999
The last smartphone that was launched in August 2021 was from Samsung. The South Korean smartphone maker launched the Galaxy M32 5G smartphone in India. The device offers similar features and specifications as that of the Galaxy A32 5G which Samsung has launched in other markets. The Galaxy M32 5G features a 6.5-inch HD+ display, 48MP quad-camera setup, a 13MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging.
The Samsung Galaxy M32 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor and has 6GB/8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. On the software front, the Galaxy M32 5G runs Android 11 out of the box. The device will get two major Android OS updates in the future. The main selling point of the Galaxy M32 5G is that it supports 12 5G bands. The device is priced at ₹20,999 in India. These were the smartphones that were launched in India in August 2021. Internationally, we also saw smartphone companies launching a few new devices.
iQOO launched the iQOO 8 series devices in China, while ASUS unveiled the ROG Phone 5s series smartphones. Honor also introduced its flagship Honor Magic 3 smartphone lineup in the global market. Similarly, we saw Motorola unveiling the Motorola Edge successor in the form of the Motorola Edge 2021 a few days ago in the US. The device features improved specifications compared to the predecessor and comes with a flat display. Last but not least, we also saw the launch of the Google Pixel 5a smartphone. It features a 6.34-inch OLED display with Full HD+ display it is powered by Snapdragon 765G processor. It has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It sports a 12.2MP main camera and a 16MP ultrawide camera at the rear. The Pixel 5a 5G is priced at $449 ( ₹33,392) and it is only available for pre-order in the US and Japan.
